1970 model Porsche 911 2.3ST Hotrod
We are pleased to offer this exciting 911 Hotrod that has just been completed by marque specialists Lee Mayor restorations.
The 911ST was a low volume competition special that found success in circuit racing and rallying in the early 1970s.
Initially these were based on the 2.2 litre cars with their capacity extended to 2.3 litres and were assembled by the factory or privateers using factory upgrade kits. Because of this, the appearance often varied from car to car depending whether it was a circuit racer or rally car.
This particular car is inspired by the ST and fittingly is based on a genuine early 1970 model 911 2.2T actually manufactured in 1969.
The engine is built to a short stroke 2.3cc specification using over -sized high compression pistons and barrels with S cam shafts, S cylinder heads and Weber carburettors, using original 1970 crank cases.
The gearbox is the correct 901 1970 Magnesium cased unit and both the engine and gearbox were built by the highly regarded Mike Bainbridge.
All chrome work is either new or the original re-furbished and the wheels are correctly restored Fuchs 7\” & 8\” x 15s with Porsche approved Pirelli tyres.
The interior was re-trimmed with lightweight carpets, ST rubber mats with hessian backing, Recaro replica seats (TUV approved) and a 370mm prototipo steering wheel.
The shell was completely stripped and fitted with many new panels during the restoration including bonnet, wings, floor pan, door skins and rear lid. The rear wings were fabricated to early ST style and the whole car was repainted in its original colour Conda green.
On the road this little 911 is great to drive with its light and responsive steering and punchy 2.3 litre engine that just loves to rev.
A stunning early 911 that is on the button and ready for immediate enjoyment.
